At white belt, only a National Karate uniform is required. In summer, students may wear NK t-shirts tucked into karate pants with their belt. At gold with green stripe, begin discussing sparring equipment with Mr. Albertson. Sparring starts at solid green belt.
Tape stripes track attendance and skill. About every four classes, instructors review technique and listening. Students who meet expectations earn a stripe. Three stripes indicate readiness for belt testing.

The next rank is solid gold belt. Students should aim to earn three stripes first, showing strong basics and good listening. Sparring begins around four months in, depending on progress. Contact Mr. Albertson with questions about sparring or equipment.
